African-American Scientist and Inventor Day: Celebrating Genius and Innovation February 25th, 2025, marks a special day to recognize and appreciate the immense contributions of African-American scientists and inventors who have shaped the world as we know it today. This holiday is a tribute to the trailblazers who broke barriers, defied odds, and pushed the boundaries of human knowledge and innovation. African-American Scientist and Inventor Day has its roots in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, when there was a growing need to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of black Americans in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The holiday was initially observed on February 1st, but in 2019, it was officially moved to February 25th to coincide with the birthday of Dr. Ernest Everett Just, a renowned African-American biologist and inventor.
