National Small Business Day is just around the corner, folks! Mark your calendars for May 10th, 2025, because it's time to celebrate the backbone of our economy - the small businesses! Did you know that this special day was first recognized in 2011 by the United States Senate? It was a long-overdue recognition of the significant contributions small businesses make to our country's economy. Today, small businesses employ more than 50% of the workforce and create two-thirds of new jobs in the US! So, how did this movement begin? The idea of National Small Business Day was conceived by Thomas & Scott, a California-based company that provides services to small businesses. They created a social media campaign, #SmallBusinessDay, to raise awareness about the impact of small businesses on the local communities.
