Amelia Earhart Day - July 24th, 2025
Can you believe it's finally here - Amelia Earhart Day , celebrated every year on July 24th! This incredible holiday honors the life and legacy of the trailblazing American aviator, Amelia Mary Earhart. For those who might not know, Amelia Earhart was a pioneer in every sense of the word. Born on July 24, 1897, she was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932, earning her the nickname "Lady Lindy." Her groundbreaking achievements didn't stop there - she was also the first person to fly solo from Hawaii to California, and the first person to fly solo from Mexico City to Newark, New Jersey. Amelia's passion for flying was ignited during World War I, when she served as a nurse's aide. She later took flying lessons from none other than Max Fernald, a veteran flyer, and in 1923, she became the 16th woman in the United States to earn her international pilot's license. The rest, as they say, is history! So, how do we celebrate...
