That's right, folks, National Banana Split Day is just a few days away, and I couldn't be more excited! This delicious holiday has a rich history, fun traditions, and let's be real, who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned banana split? The origins of the banana split date back to 1904, when a 23-year-old apprentice pharmacist named David Strickler invented the tasty treat at Tassell Pharmacy in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. According to legend, Strickler was experimenting with different sundaes and came up with the idea to add a banana to the mix. And just like that, the banana split was born!
