On December 23rd, 2024, people around the world will be coming together to celebrate a unique and special holiday - HumanLight! So, what is HumanLight ? Well, HumanLight is a secular holiday that was created in 2001 by the New Jersey Humanist Network. It's a day to celebrate humanity, reason, and the values of compassion, empathy, and kindness. The holiday is often seen as a way to counterbalance the commercialism and religiosity of the winter season, and to provide a inclusive and welcoming celebration for those who don't identify with traditional religious or cultural holidays. A brief history of HumanLight : The idea for HumanLight was born out of a conversation between a few humanist friends who were looking for a way to celebrate the winter season without feeling left out of the traditional holidays.
