As we take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous peoples, let's dive into the history, traditions, and ways people come together to observe this special day. Historically, the summer solstice, which falls on June 21st or 22nd, has been a time of great importance for many Indigenous communities, long before European settlers arrived. In fact, the summer solstice was often celebrated as a time of renewal, growth, and spiritual rejuvenation. For many Indigenous peoples, the summer solstice is a sacred time when the sun is at its highest point, symbolizing the longest day of the year, and the beginning of the ripening season.
