Bird Day is literally just around the corner, you guys! It's on May 4th, and I'm beyond excited to share some fun trivia and insights about this amazing holiday. A Little Background As it turns out, Bird Day has its roots in the United States, dating all the way back to 1894. Charles Babcock, a conservationist from Pennsylvania, wanted to raise awareness about the rapidly declining bird populations due to overhunting. He was convinced that if people could be educated about the importance of birds in our ecosystem, they'd start taking action to protect them. Fast forward to the early 20th century, and Bird Day started gaining traction across the country. By the 1940s, it had become a widely recognized holiday, with schools, nature centers, and conservation groups organizing events and activities to celebrate our feathered friends.
