Loving Day is literally just around the corner - June 12th, 2025, people! I'm beyond excited to share with you the history, traditions, and ways people celebrate this amazing holiday. What is Loving Day ? Loving Day commemorates the Supreme Court's landmark decision in 1967, when they struck down laws that banned interracial marriage in the United States. Yep, you read that right - there were actually laws prohibiting love between people of different races. The court's decision on June 12, 1967, in the case of Loving v. Virginia, marked a major milestone in the fight for civil rights and love. The Lovings , a mixed-race couple from Virginia, Richard and Mildred, were at the center of this historic case. In 1958, they were arrested and jailed for violating the "anti-miscegenation" law in Virginia.
