On May 4th, 1970, students at Kent State University in Ohio gathered to protest the war, particularly the US invasion of Cambodia. The protest quickly turned violent as National Guardsmen, deployed to quell the protests, opened fire on the unarmed students, killing four students - Allison Krause, Jeffrey Glen Miller, Sophie Scheuer, and Sandra Lee Scheuer - and injuring nine others.
