National Girls and Women in Sports Day February 5th, 2025, is going to be an amazing day! It's National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), a celebration of the incredible achievements and contributions of girls and women in sports across the United States. This special day has been recognizes since 1987, and I'm so excited to share its history, traditions, and ways to celebrate with you! Did you know that NGWSD was first established by the U.S. Congress in 1986 to acknowledge the importance of promoting and encouraging girls and women to participate in sports? It was a response to the lack of opportunities for women in sports, dating back to the early 20th century when women were often excluded from participating in sports, or had limited access to resources and facilities.
