The Legend of Prince Siddhartha Vesak commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana (death) of Siddhartha Gautama , the founder of Buddhism. The legend has it that Siddhartha, a prince born in Lumbini (present-day Nepal), was destined for greatness. As his mother, Queen May a, was carrying him, a bodhisattva , she felt a sudden surge of compassion and wisdom.
