This incredible holiday is all about shining a light on the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls, and what we can do to support and empower them. The history of this holiday is truly inspiring. Back in 2005, the Office on Women's Health (OWH) decided to create a special day to raise awareness about the intersection of gender and HIV/AIDS. And thus, National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day was born! Since then, every year on March 10th, people from all walks of life come together to educate, advocate, and celebrate the resilience of women and girls affected by HIV/AIDS. So, what's the big deal about women and girls, you ask? Well, the stats are pretty staggering.
